At EMTA, we offer training across all theatrical disciplines. Many students attend a variety of our classes to build their skills across the board, from acting and singing to dance and audition technique. We focus on nurturing each individual performer, helping them become versatile and well-rounded. Additionally, our Wednesday Musical Theatre class combines all these talents
Whether students are working on their singing voice, refining screen technique in acting, or mastering the skills needed for their ISTD Jazz grade, our classes are designed to support their personal development. Every term, students work towards a performance that showcases their progress and passion.
This dynamic drama class focuses on developing the essential techniques needed for both stage and screen performance. Students explore a range of skills—from stage presence and character development to the technical demands of acting for camera and audition preparation. Using innovative exercises designed and personalised for each student by EMTA Principal Tom Malmed, the lessons aim to bring every performer to their peak potential, with these skills showcased through annual presentations, short films, and EMTA productions.
The dance discipline is one that is extremely popular amongst children of all ages, and we can see why! On Saturdays we offer classes in both Jazz and commercial dance. We aim to teach students the correct technique needed to become a strong dancer, as well as the skill of performing and story-telling. Additionally, students can also opt in to take their ISTD grade in dance leaving with a qualifications. These lessons will consist of specialised exercises and energetic routines, giving our students the opportunity to work towards exciting stage performances.
Our Wednesday Musical Theatre classes aim to combine all Dance, Singing and Acting disciplines. Our students are given the opportunity to amalgamate their skills, and explore different musical pieces. This is where we see characterisation really come to life, whether it be through a dance routine, acting scene or chorus number. These classes consist of both vocal and physical warmups, before focusing on projects we intend to showcase in future presentations and productions.
Our Saturday singing classes will teach students the importance of good technique, with the aim to work towards both solo and group performances. Here at EMTA we love to give our students the opportunity to learn new skills, from learning harmonies in a chorus, to different styles of singing. The world of theatre is constantly evolving, which gives us lots of different genres to explore! We understand that confidence has a huge role to play in this discipline, and therefore aim to provide lessons that are both fun and inspiring.
